If Bromus cappadocicus Boiss. & Balansa 1857 View in CoL is considered a heterotypic synonym of Bromus sclerophyllus Boiss. 1854 View in CoL , as advocated by POWO (2024c), the latter has priority over the former. Accepted allopatric, though regionally overlapping, subspecies need to be combined accordingly. Bromus sclerophyllus subsp. cappadocicus View in CoL ranges from the Balkan Peninsula through Anatolia to Caucasus and Iran, subsp. lacmonicus View in CoL occurs in SC and SE Europe ( Hungary to Greece, see Dimopoulos & al. 2013: 123) and subsp. sclerophyllus View in CoL is endemic to W and C Anatolia ( Smith 1985; Valdés & Scholz 2009).
