The species is not uncommon in the coastal plain S of Shkodër and is to be considered as established in agricultural areas, by roadsides and in ruderal places; it is also naturalized in Croatia ( Nikolić 1994), Greece ( Dimopoulos & al. 2024; Strid 2024: 581, map 2324), Hungary ( Mihály & Botta-Dukát 2004) and Italy ( Galasso & al. 2024). Chenopodium giganteum was described from Nepal; the native range comprises the Himalayas, Tibet, C China, Manchuria and the Russian Far East ( Mosyakin & Mandák 2018; POWO 2024f). The species is widely cultivated outside of its native range as an ornamental plant or minor crop (leaf vegetable and pseudo-cereal) and is easily recognized by young parts of the plants being farinose from bright reddish pink, vesicular hairs.
