Fanini, December 2011; 3 specimens, P.89315, Kokkini Hani, Heraklion, Crete, Greece ( 35°20'2"N 25°16'26"E), banquette beach, transect B - trap 2, L. Fanini, January 2012; 3 specimens, P.89316, Gournes, Heraklion, Crete, Greece ( 35°20'1"N 25°16'82"E), mixed west beach, transect B - trap 2, L. Fanini, January 2012; 7 specimens, P.89317, Kokkini Hani, Heraklion, Crete, Greece ( 35°20'2"N 25°16'26"E), banquette beach, transect B - trap 5, L. Fanini, January 2012.
Diagnosis (based on adult male). Gnathopod 1 carpus with projecting palmate lobe. Gnathopod 2 propodus palm reaching 52% along posterior margin; dactylus slender distally. Pereopod 7 not sexually dimorphic. Telson with 7–9 apical and lateral robust setae per lobe.
Distribution. An apparent Mediterranean Sea endemic widely reported from the coasts of France ( Mateus & Mateus, 1959, Bellan-Santini 1993); Italy ( Cecchini 1928, Ruffo 1951a, Bellan-Santini 1993); Yugoslavia ( G. Karaman, 1973c); Greece ( Vecchi, 1929, Ruffo, 1937a, Karaman, 1973c, Bellan-Santini 1993, De Matthaeis et al. 2000, this study); Turkey (Geldiay, et al., 197l); the Black Sea (Sezgin & Katağan 2007); and Libya ( Maccagno 1939).
