Apart from the type species, A. okinawaensis Okajima , this genus includes only A. venapennis ( Moulton 1928a) that remains known from a single female taken in Taiwan. According to Okajima (2006) the genus is similar to Gynaikothrips but with the maxillary stylets retracted to the postocular setae and close together medially, the head long, the fore tarsi of both sexes bearing a tooth, the MSS absent, and the tube longer than the head.
