Remarks — Amaranthus tricolor was reported as naturalized in European Turkey (Roy & al. 2022; Iamonico 2015a) but certainly in error; a single 19 th century record is known from Turkey-in-Europe (“cultivated in gardens, and sometimes escapes”, Aellen 1967; Baytop & Demiriz 1981). The species, native to Asia from Pakistan E to Japan and Indonesia ( Bayón 2015: 367), was never recollected in the area and was accordingly not counted as a member of the Turkish flora by Aellen (1967: 343); there are also no past or present records from Greece.
