This genus was created for Pinophilus punctatissimus (Sharp, 1889) View in CoL from the Oriental region. In the Afrotropical region there is only one species: Pinobelus opacifrons ( Lecoq, 1986) . ASSING (2022) placed this species in the genus Mimopinophilus View in CoL without many comments. I could not study P. punctatissimus View in CoL , although the description shows that it must be very close to P. opacifrons , but at least the aedeagus seems different and both species are geographically well separated. Thus, the decision of transferring P. opacifrons to this genus.
