Genus Pinachenium Assing, 2022 View in CoL
TYPE SPECIES: Pinophilus longicorne ( Baudi di Selve, 1848) , by original designation
Pinachenium ASSING, 2022: 93 View in CoL
ASSING (2022) created this genus for what FAGEL (1963) called the Pinophilus abessinus View in CoL 1848-group. Assing also synonymized Pinophilus wittmeri ( Koch, 1934) View in CoL with Pinophilus longicorne ( Baudi di Selve, 1848) . In the Afrotropical region, there are several species, not all already placed in this genus. Due to the uniform habitus, the transfer of the remaining species from Pinophilus View in CoL to Pinachenium View in CoL is obvious. With the exception of Pinachenium pseudabessinum , for which there is still no ♂ known, the others all have more or less the same aedeagus, which makes it difficult to interpret the limits of the species. The size is rather uniform, and one of the more useful characteristics together with the size of the tempora. This leads to the following key.
