Material examined: Juvenile female, dissected on one slide ( NIBRIV0000243294 ) , shell on SEM stub ( NIBRIV0000243282 ) ; juvenile male, dissected on one slide ( NIBRIV0000243295 ) , shell on SEM stub; one juvenile whole used for DNA extraction; soft part of one juvenile used for DNA extraction, shell on micropalaeontological slide ( NIBRIV0000243296 ) .

Remarks: This species occured in the same sample as U. koreana and U. andromeda . In comparison to U. koreana juveniles (see Fig. 2G, H), juveniles of Undulacandona sp. differ in shape and even the later larval stage ( Fig. 14B) is less elongated and with different anterior and posterior margins. Undulacandona sp. resembles U. andromeda a little, but the juveniles of the former species (the later stage) are larger than adults of U. andromeda . The juveniles of U. aeolus are very similar to those of U. koreana . Since, no adults were found that could correspond to Undulacandona sp. the nomenclature of this species is for now left open. The COI sequences obtained from U. koreana and Undulacandona sp. indicate that the two are indeed different species, since the p -distances between them equal 17% (see Table 3). In ostracods, the COI distances [usually calculated under the K2P model ( Kimura, 1980)] between well-defined but close morphological species of one genus vary from 5 to 14% (Martens, Halse & Hemipenis ( Fig. 13A): Lobe a perpendicular and elongated. Lobe h as high as lobe a. Ejaculatory process relatively simple.

Zenker organ: Same as in previous species. With 3 + 2 whorls of spines with wide central tube and inflated anterior end.

Female. Not collected.

Remarks: Undulacandona cetus is distinguishable from all other species by many characteristics, such as subtriangular shell shape, elongated ramus on the UR and peculiar hemipenis. Although we report on an absence of one of the prehensile palps, this needs to be
