Holotype (MHNG [P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico, erroneously placed in Veracruz by Saussure (1860).
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 ( Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).

Distribution: warm regions of Mexico ( Saussure 1860, Saussure & Humbert 1872). Maps: none.
Remarks: This name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
