lineata ( Newport, 1845:425) View in CoL .
Holotype (?OUMNH); type locality: St. Vincent, Lesser Antilles. Described in Cormocephalus Newport, 1845 , this species was transferred to Scolopendra by Gervais (1847), to Cupipes Kohlrausch, 1878 , by Kraepelin (1903), and back to Cormocephalus by Attems (1930). Original rank: species. Current rank and status: valid species of Cormocephalus ( Attems 1930, Bücherl 1974).
Anatomical illustrations: Kraepelin (1903, fig. 119), Attems (1930, fig. 123).
Distribution: type locality. Maps: none.
Remarks: From 1902 to 1903, when it was in Scolopendra , S. lineata ( Newport, 1845) was a senior secondary homonyn of S. lineata Saussure & Zehntner, 1902 , which occurs in Madagascar and is a synonym of S. morsitans L., 1758 ( Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930); however, its subsequent transfer to Cupipes and return to Cormocephalus eliminated this conflict. The species was omitted by Bücherl (1942 a).
