Holotype (?OUMNH); type locality: St. Vincent, Lesser Antilles.
Described in Cormocephalus Newport, 1845 , this species was transferred to Scolopendra by Gervais (1847), cited under Cormocephalus as a questionable senior synonym of Cupipes impressus ( Porat, 1876) by Kraepelin (1903), and cited, again under Cormocephalus , as an insufficiently described species by Attems (1930). Original rank: species. Current rank and status: valid species of Cormocephalus Newport, 1845 ( Bücherl 1974).

Remarks: Cormocephalus guildingii was omitted by Bücherl (1942 a).
