Holotype (NMNH); type locality: Tancitaro , Michoacan, Mexico.

Distribution : type locality. Maps : none.
Remarks: This species was proposed for two specimens collected at 6,500 ft. (1,950 m) elevation by H. Hoogstraal on 20 July 1940. It was identified as a “new species” in the original description and is a senior primary homonym of S. pomacea michoacana Chamberlin, 1942 , from the same type locality. Scolopendra michoacana was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
