Holotype (BMNH [D. Mann, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: unknown .
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. subspinipes Leach 1815 ( Kohlrausch 1878, 1879, 1881; Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1909; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1939, 1942 a); I confirm this synonymy.
Remarks: Daday (1891) reduced S. sexspinosa to subspecific status under S. subspinipes and recorded it from Trinidad. Scolopendra sexspinosa was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
