Holotype (ZMB [ Moritz & Fischer 1979]); type locality: La Laguna, south of La Paz and near the Sierra de la Victoria, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Original rank: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 . Current rank and status: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 ( Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).

Remarks: Scolopendra viridis lagunensis was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
