Holotype: not known to exist, not present at ZSMC (S. Friedrich, pers. com.), not listed in Moritz & Fischer (1979) as being at ZMB; type locality: Topolobampo, south of Los Mochis , Sinaloa, Mexico.

Original rank: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 . Current rank and status: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 ( Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).

Anatomical illustrations: none.

Distribution: known definitely only from the type locality. Bücherl (1942 a) recorded S. v. genuina from Central America, which is plausible but awaits confirmation, and Venezuela and Brazil, which are implausible and were deleted by Shelley (2002). Maps: none.

Remarks: This subspecies was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
