Holotype: not known to exist; type locality: Medicine Lodge , Barber Co., Kansas, USA.
Original rank: variety of S. heros Girard, 1853 . Current rank and status: synonym of S. heros Girard, 1853 ( Shelley 2002) .
Remarks : Scolopendra prismatica was not addressed by Kraepelin (1903) and Attems (1930), who doubtlessly were unaware of Cragin’s obscure paper.
