Holotype (MCZ); type locality: stated as Maldonado , Brazil, but probably actually Uruguay.
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of Hemiscolopendra laevigata ( Porat, 1876) ( Kraepelin 1903; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1939, 1942 a).
Remarks: Scolopendra longispina was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
