torquata Wood, 1861:13 View in CoL .
Holotype ( ANSP, examined); type locality: Sombrero Island, British Virgin Islands.
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. alternans Leach, 1815 ( Kraepelin 1903, Brölemann 1909, Bücherl 1939). Attems (1930) considered S. torquata to be an unrecognizable species, but placement under S. alternans is plausible given its abundance on northern Caribbean Islands, and I confirm this synonymy.
Remarks: Scolopendra torquata was omitted by Bücherl (1942 a, 1974) and Shelley (2002).
