Syntypes (6 specimens, MHNG [P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: Mexico without further specification.

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. polymorpha Wood, 1861 ( Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930, Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).

Remarks: Scolopendra mysteca was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
