Holotype: not known to exist, not present in MHNG (P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.), not found in 2005; type locality: Colombia (= New Granada).

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. morsitans L., 1758 ( Kohlrausch 1878, 1879, 1881; Haase 1887; Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1909; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1942 a).

Remarks: This name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
