Genus Apanteles Förster, 1862

Type species: Microgaster obscurus Nees, 1834 .

Widely distributed cosmopolitan genus with c. 1200 species in the World, about 300 species in the Paleartctic, and 17 species in Ukraine, of which one was recorded for the first time for Ukraine by the author. Species of this genus parasitize in Lepidoptera caterpillars of 18 families (most often Tortricidae ).
