New World Hemipeplinae
There are 17 described species of Hemipeplinae from the New World, included in the genera Hemipeplus and Holopeplus . These species were described or re-described exhaustively by Pollock (1999). In this study, five new species are described expanding the number of New World species to 22. Four species were found in the Nearctic ( USA) while 21 species were found in Central and South America, and the Greater Antilles. Most of the species in this region have distinct temples and pronotal pads.
