SYNONYMS: Petromyidae .

COMMENTS: Swanepoel et al. (1980: 161) employed Petromuridae instead of Petromyidae for this family (see Petromus ). The group had an elaborate Tertiary radiation composed of at least two subfamilies and seven known genera.
