Columbia merguensis Planchon ex Masters (1874: 394)

Type (lectotype, designated here):— MYANMAR. Tanintharyi: Mergui, Griffith s.n. (P! [ P06708251 ]).

Masters (1875) cited the specimen Griffith s.n. as type, without specifying the reference herbarium. Analysing the herbaria where the original Griffith’s collection is kept ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 1005) was found one specimen in K recognized as a type of Columbia merguensis . However, this specimen does not have the collector’s name and locality and for this reason, its belonging to the original material is doubtful. Furthermore, one specimen of Griffith s.n. was found in P, distributed as duplicate by the herbarium K. Therefore, given the compatibility with the description and locality of protologue, is designate here the specimen in P (P06708251) as a lectotype of Colona merguensis , in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN.
