Columbia ridleyi Gerace , nom. nov.
≡ Columbia integrifolia Ridley (1911a: 26) , nom. illeg.
Type (lectotype, designated here):— MALAYSIA. Perak: Lenggong , July 1904, Ridley 14702 (K! [ K000686966 ]; isolectotype K! [ K000686967 ]).
Ridley (1911a) cited only the locality without collection number and reference herbarium. Analysing the herbaria where the original Ridley’s collection is kept ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 786), were found two duplicates of Ridley 14702 associated with Columbia integrifolia in K. These specimens correspond to the description and locality of the protologue. For these reasons, in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, is designate here the specimen K000686966 as a lectotype, by choosing the best-preserved and complete specimen.
When Ridley (1911a) described the new species Columbia integrifolia with a specimen from Malaysia, he did not consider that the binomen had already been used by Warburg (1891) for a species from Maluku. According to the code, the name Columbia integrifolia Ridley (1911a: 26) is a later homonym of Columbia integrifolia Warburg (1891: 372) and therefore illegitimate. For this reason, a new name is here given for Ridley’s species, in honour of the original author of the species.
