Miller et al., 2010: 801 rejected the placement of Coelotes Blackwall, 1841 and allied genera by Wunderlich, 1986: 24 as being more closely related to Amaurobius than Agelena ; Coelotinae were treated as a separate family as Coelotidae by Ono, 2008. The earliest established genus is Coelotes Blackwall, 1841 .
