Genus Arctornis Germar, 1810: 18

TS: Bombyx v-nigrum Fabricius, 1775: 577 , by subsequent designation by Kirby (1892): 432, but cited as Phalaena l-nigrum Müller, 1764 , a nominal species not originally included in Arctornis . Kirby, however, placed l-nigrum as the senior synonym of v-nigrum , a nominal species originally included in Arctornis . Under the Code, Article 69(a) (iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included name as the type species (Nye & Fletcher 1980).
