Genus Argyrostrotis Hübner, [1821] 1816: 253

TS: Phalaena (Noctua) anilis Drury, 1773: 21 , pl. 12, f. 21, by subsequent designation by Hampson (1913): 151. Incorrect type-species designation: Phalaena amoenita Stoll, 1780 , a name not originally included in Argyrostrotis and not linked with one of the originally included names when cited by Hampson (1908): 517. Hampson’s use here of Argyrostrotis was an error for Argyrosticta Hübner, [1821] , as pointed out by Hampson, 1913: 15 1. =Argyrostrotus Agassiz, 1846: 33. An unjustified emendation of Argyrostrotis Hübner, [1821] .
