19. Strepsimaninae View in CoL View at ENA
Strepsimaninae View in CoL was originally proposed as a family within the Gelechioidea by Meyrick (1930). It was later reclassified into the Noctuoidea View in CoL by Hodges (1978). Lafontaine and Fibiger (2006) recognized it as a subfamily of Noctuidae View in CoL . In 1963, Clarke designated a lectotype for the only known species and offered detailed descriptions of its genitalia. The placement of Strepsimaninae View in CoL is still unclear and thus, is included herein as incertae sedis.
Adult characters. The forewing vein M3 extends towards the costa instead of the outer margin; both the forewing and hindwing exhibit quadrifid venation. Additionally, males possess a pair of coremata located on the fourth abdominal sternite.
Larval characters. Not known.
Diversity and distribution. The subfamily is known by single species described from Uttarakhand ( India).
