Remarks: Described from a single female specimen; material in MZUSP comprised of a female adult specimen missing left postpedicel of antenna, foretarsomeres, right midleg, left midtarsus, and hindtarsi. Guimarães & Carrera (1941) placed this species in the subgenus Metacuterebra and suggested a close affinity with Cuterebra conflans Bau, 1929 and C. pulchra Bau, 1930 . Synonymized with Cuterebra detrudatrix (Clark, 1848) by Papavero & Guimarães (2009) as an unjustified emendation.

Nomenclatural status: Valid as Cuterebra detrudator Clark, 1848 .
