Type locality

Cova de l’Olla [original citation: “Prov. de Tarragona: Cova de l’Olla, en Cal Sumoy, term. municipal de Montmell, Part. judicial de Vendrell”].

Type material

Syntypes: MZB 71-2380 / MZB 71-2386 (7 ♂♂, 10 ♀♀), type loc., 27-VIII-1934, F. Español leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey).

Remarks

Zariquiey (1950) mentions “varios ejemplares” [a number of specimens] but does not indicate how many specimens there are in the type series nor establishes a holotype (all were originally deposited in his personal collection). Escolà (1969) cites a total of 15 specimens with the collection dates given by Zariquiey (1950). In the MCNB collection we have found a series of seven males and ten females without labels identifying them as belonging to the type series. The information on the collection labels and its hand-writing (mostly in the hand of F. Español), as well as the original placement of this material in Zariquiey’s collection, enables us, nevertheless, to attribute these specimens to the type series.
