Type locality
Querant Gran de Paús [original citation: “«Querant Gran de Paús», Vilanova de Meià, Montsec de Rubíes, Lérida”].
Type material
Holotype ♂: MZB 78-1943, type loc., 1-I-1964, J. Senent & O.Escolà leg.
Paratypes: MZB 75-9326, MZB 75-9327, MZB 78-1944 / MZB 78-1969, MZB 78-2025 / MZB 78-2032 (45 ♂♂, 40 ♀♀, 1 remain), same data as holotype. │ MZB 2021-0872 (2 ♂♂), same data as holotype (ex coll. X. Bellés) .
Remarks
In the original description, Escolà (1967) designates a holotype ♂ and 50 paratypes (Senent & Escolà leg.). Subsequently, Escolà (2000) modified this data regarding the composition of the type series, and indicates instead a total of 93 paratypes (40 ♂♂ and 51 ♀♀), all deposited in the MCNB except for two specimens in other museums (without specifying which) used as part of an exchange. It is likely that the two specimens that Escolà (2000) refers to never in fact left the Museum and correspond to specimens MZB 75-9326 and MZB 75-9327 (1 ♂ and 1 ♀), separated from the rest of the material, which were recently found in one of Escolà’s entomological boxes labelled as material to be used in exchanges. Fresneda & Salgado (2016) indicate that a part (without specifying how many) of the type series mentioned by Escolà (1967) is deposited in the Canció collection. On the other hand, two males from the XBC have recently been donated to the MCNB collection.
In all, 87 specimens (47 ♂♂ and 40 ♀♀) are labelled as paratypes in the MCNB collection, a total that includes more males than those cited by Escolà (2000), as well as the remains of one specimen of unknown sex. Escolà (1969, 1981) cites a total of 104 specimens (52 of each sex), all with the same data as the type series. Thus, given the available information, we believe that it is justifiable to regard all these specimens as part of the type series (article 72.4.1.1.).
