Remarks

The type series consists of 992 specimens from three localities in the Lleida Pyrenees, most (887) of which were trapped in Avenc del Solanet ( Escolà, 1980a, 1981). We have located 939 specimens in the MCNB collection (783 of which preserved in alcohol). Some of these trapped specimens have deteriorated (many are disarticulated): the remains of a specimen with accession number MZB 78-1119 from Mines dels Cubilars, also labelled as a paratype, should be added to the nine specimens cited from this locality by Escolà (1980a) (this specimen is included on the record card of the author’s data file). Specimen MZB 78-1120 (not labelled as a paratype) corresponds to the genitalia, supposedly extracted from one of the males from Mines dels Cubilars. The collection label of male MZB 78-1122 gives a date of 27 December 1975, whilst for specimens MZB 78-1123 and MZB 78-1124 (1 ♂ and 1 ♀) the date cited is 24 October 1976 (these two dates correspond, respectively, to the date the traps were placed in Avenc del Solanet and when they were removed). Escolà (1980a) only mentions a female collected on 27 December 1975 (which must correspond to MZB 78-1121) and so, given that these specimens are labelled as paratypes, we must suppose that they were either trapped or were not mentioned by the author in his original description. It is reasonable to think that these discrepancies are due to the difficulty in keeping a track of and labelling so many specimens, and so we believe that the cited specimens should be included in the type series. We have located another 127 specimens trapped in Avenc del Solanet (register number MZB 69-0167), labelled by Escolà as “en mal estado” [‘in poor condition’]. This material, preserved in alcohol, were probably excluded from the type series due to their bad state of preservation.

Some paratypes have been deposited in the XBC, according to Fresneda & Salgado (2016). Likewise, according with our data, two paratypes were sent to Michael Perreau and other two to Dante Vailati .
