Paratypes: MBLUZ 154 (male), Cueva de Los Laureles , Socuy River ( Limón River system, Lake Maracaibo Basin), municipio Jesús Enrique Lossada, Sierra de Perijá, Zulia State, Venezuela (10º 45’ 04.00” N, 72º 27’ 42.00” W), ± 610 m asl. 20 December 1990, Tito R[afael] Barros.

Remarks: this species name is a currently regarded as a junior synonym of Cryptobatrachus pedroruizi Lynch 2008 ( Meza-Joya et al. 2021). The specimen is well protected and in good state of preservation.
