DISTRIBUTION: Norway, Ireland, and Spain to Sakhalin Isl ( Russia), Japan, N China and Nepal.

SYNONYMS: brevimanus , communis, cornutus , megalotos, homochrous , montanus , ognevi , otus, peronii , puck, sacrimontis , typus, uenoi, velatus , vulgaris.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Plecotus .
