Isoperla kirchneri Szczytko & Kondratieff, 2015 View in CoL
Notes
This species is currently referred to as the Two-spine Stripetail ( Stark et al. 2012). Isoperla kirchneri is primarily an Appalachian-distributed species reported from New York south to Tennessee and North Carolina ( Szczytko and Kondratieff 2015, DeWalt et al. 2024). Szczytko and Kondratieff (2015) suggested that this species has a univoltine-slow life cycle. In New York, adults of I. kirchneri have been collected from mid-March through mid-June (Fig. 38 View Figure 38 ) at elevations of 101-570 m asl (Fig. 39 View Figure 39 ) from streams and rivers in Level IV Ecoregions Catskill High Peaks (58 y), Eastern Adirondack Foothills (58 ac), Glaciated Low Allegheny Plateau (60 a), Champlain Lowlands (83 b), and Upper St. Lawrence Valley (83 e) (Fig. 42 b View Figure 42 b ). This species is likely more common and widespread in the state.
