Description

Coloration. In life, specimens exhibit an overall gold-greenish color ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ), whereas pinned specimens are usually yellowish to greenish ( Fig. 3 A–C View FIGURE 3 ).

Head. Crown with anterior margin rounded and weakly produced, 1.1x wider than long. Face narrow, 2.2x longer than wide. Face and crown infused with irregular marks of shiny gold over surface. Ocelli concolorous, translucent. Eyes 1.4x wider than distance between eye to midline ( Fig. 3 A–C View FIGURE 3 ).

Thorax. Pronotum 2.1x wider than long; surface greenish with diffuse light gold and two white central narrow bands near posterior margin. Scutellum with white lateral margins and a big white central dot ( Fig. 3 A–C View FIGURE 3 ). Wings translucent ( Fig. 4 A View FIGURE 4 ), but some specimens have specs of light turquoise on costal vein; apical area of costal vein base turquoise; base of RP vein with a light dark spot at base. Legs green turquoise.

Abdomen. Dorsum greenish and venter green turquoise. Apodemes, slightly beyond segment V ( Fig. 4 B View FIGURE 4 ).

Terminalia. Pygofer produced, with dorsal margin oblique, caudal margin weakly pointed in lateral view, with 6–8 fine long setae adjacent to outer margin near apex; anal tube shorter than subgenital plate, broad ( Fig. 4 C View FIGURE 4 ). Subgenital plate broad and elongate, longer than pygofer, 20–30 long macrosetae in three rows on basal margin, 25–30 long fine setae arranged over almost entire ventral plate surface with a basal group of 3–5 microfine setae, 24–28 lamellate setae on lateral margin with three long macroseta on basolateral margin ( Fig. 4 C View FIGURE 4 ). Pygofer ventral appendage longer than pygofer, body of appendage moderate and margins subparallel with exception of apex slightly curved and tapered, not denticulate ( Fig. 4 C–D View FIGURE 4 ). Style, last third uniformly serrated towards apex on the outer side ( Fig. 4 E View FIGURE 4 ). Connective lamellate.Aedeagus with elongate preatrium, shaft strongly expanded medially in lateral view, posterior margin with angulate emargination, apex well differentiated and quadrate, with curved pair of basal processes shorter than atrium in lateral view, gonoduct almost as wide as shaft, and gonopore on posterior margin ( Fig. 4 F View FIGURE 4 ).

Etymology. The epithet of the new species is based on two Ngäbe words, “ Judó ” meaning apex and “ Kuatare ” meaning square, in allusion to the shape of the apex of aedeagus. Ngäbe is a language spoken by one of the eight indigenous groups known in Costa Rica.
