HT: ♂ “Rio Autaz.” USNM, unnumbered
PT: 13♂ 3♀ “Rio Autaz.” 11♂ 2♀ USNM, 2♂ 1♀ DZUP
DIST: BRAZIL (Amazonas). Map: Marinoni et al. 2003
Note 1: Marinoni et al. 2003: 22 addressed the exact locality on the Autaz River where Abraham Roman collected specimens during his expeditions to Brazil in 1914–1915 and 1923–1924. They wrote, "the only information about the place where they [ T. autazensis ] were collected is ‘ Rio Autaz’. In Amazonas ... there are two rivers named Autaz: Autaz-Açu and Autaz-Mirim, both very close from each other ... there is no other information that could be useful to solve the doubt ..." Thecomyia autazensis is known only from the type locality.
Note 2: The distribution map of T. autazensis ( Marinoni et al. 2003: 33, fig. 43) is in error. The lone site shown on the map is not in the state of Amazonas.
