No material of E. turgimanus including type series could be obtained for the present study.

Remarks

Eogammarus turgimanus View in CoL was originally described as Anisogammarus ( Eogammarus) turgimanus View in CoL by Shen (1955) but is currently classified as a member of the genus Eogammarus ( Bousfield 1979) View in CoL . After his redescription of Anisogammarus ( Eogammarus) annandalei (Tattersall) ( Shen 1954) , Shen (1955) mentioned that E. turgimanus View in CoL and Anisogammarus ( Eogammarus) annandalei have a similar number and arrangement of the accessory lobes on the coxal gills, that is, double on gills of pereopods 2–5 and single on gills of pereopods 6 and 7. Anisogammarus ( Eogammarus) annandalei is now known as Jesogammarus annandalei View in CoL . Shen (1955) described E. turgimanus View in CoL as having short setae on the dorsal margins of pleonites, a pair of robust lateral setae and two pairs of robust medial setae on the dorsal margin of urosomite 2, and a distinct terminal article of the outer ramus of uropod 3. These three features are currently considered as the characteristics of the genus Jesogammarus View in CoL . Consequently, E. turgimanus View in CoL should be transferred into Jesogammarus View in CoL .
