Membranomyces is a genus of resupinate ECM-forming basidiomycetes ( Uehling et al. 2012), the sporocarps of which

25 / 23 / 06 on 239.228. 189.6 by com. cdnsciencepub from Downloaded Botany have not yet been reported from BC ( Kroeger and Berch 2017). Membranomyces SH 1634949.08FU is known from 15 sequences from western North America, one originating from ECMs of Q. kelloggii , and the rest from conifers, including three reports from Vancouver Island, and now also from LZ with ECM of Garry oak.

Based on study of collections from Europe and North America, Olariaga et al. (2009) concluded that more than one species with grey colour is subsumed under the name Clavulina cinerea (Bull.) J.Schröt. Given that C. cinerea was originally described from Europe ( Cohn 1889), our SH1546073.08FU detected at NRL is likely one of these cryptic species.
