Type species.
Protomerulius brasiliensis Möller.
This genus was recently amended to include half-pileate poroid, effused odontioid, and corticioid taxa possessing stalked basidia and firm hyphae; these hyphae enter into a hymenial layer as thick-walled cystidia in effused species or form an axis of tube dissepiments in poroid species ( Spirin et al. 2019 c). Here we describe two more corticioid species from Europe and reassess Protomerulius commotus Spirin & V. Malysheva based on more extensive material.
