Dicordylus serranus Vanin, 1976 View in CoL
( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–2 )
Dicordylus serranus Vanin, 1976: 14 View in CoL ; Mermudes, 2006:74 (fig. 2)
Dicordylus sp. ; Lima, 1956: 124 (fig. 108).
Diagnosis (based on Vanin 1976): Integument reddish-brown; middle of elytra with two large, rounded spots of decumbent and yellowish-white scales, and with setae of elytral spot inclined 45° in relation to longitudinal axis of body.
Remarks. In 2006, Mermudes examined a female of Dicordylus serranus from Passa Quatro (elevation 938m) in Minas Gerais State, which filled an important geographical gap between the southernmost record from Santa Catarina and the northern one in Minas Gerais. The type locality included Serra do Caraça (municipality of Santa Bárbara in Minas Gerais State) and Mafra (municipality in Santa Catarina State), at elevations of 1380 m and 800 m, respectively. Now, I have examined three specimens collected by Zikán in Virginia, municipality of Minas Gerais, at 1500 m elevation. One of these specimens was figured by Lima (1956). I believe these are three females, with only two specimens dissected in this study due to the rarity of the material. The distribution of Dicordylus serranus remains within the Atlantic Forest, ranging from Santa Catarina to Minas Gerais.
Material examined. Minas Gerais. Virginia ( Faz[enda] dos Campos , 1500 m), 1 female II. XII.1920, J. F. Zikán leg., Dicordylus det. C. Lima (ex-coll. Zikán, nº 8669, CEIOC), 2 females 22.X.1920, with the same data (ex-coll. Zikán nº 8668, nº 8670 CEIOC (dissected).
