Lectotype (Wong & Verdcourt in Kew Bull. 43: 496. 1988; Verdcourt in Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Rubiaceae 3: 924. 1991): Herb. Linn. No. 1121.1, excl. fruit (LINN).

Generitype of Guettarda Linnaeus.

Current name: Guettarda speciosa L. View in CoL ( Rubiaceae ).

Note: Verdcourt (1991) restricted the earlier type choice that he had made with Wong (1988) by excluding the fruiting element mounted on Herb. Linn. No. 1121.1 ( LINN).
