Lectotype (designated by Fischer 1932):— INDIA.: Tranquebar [currently Tharangambadi, Tamil Nadu], s.d., Koenig , s.n., ( LD, LD1291907 , digital image!) ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ); isolectotypes: [ BM, BM000958990 , BM000958989 ; C, C1001075 , C1001076 , C1001077 , digital images!].
The name Cyperus exaltatus was proposed by Retzius based on a collection by Koenig from Tranquebar. Fischer (1932) selected the Koenig collection in the Lund Herbarium (LD) as the lectotype, which should be considered as a valid lectotypification.Recently, Mallick et al. (2018) selected the same specimen as the lectotype (with a supplementary specimen in the herbaria of BM and C), which should be considered as a nomenclatural superfluous lectotypification.
