Cyperus setaceus Retzius (1789:10)

= Eleocharis retroflexa (Poiret. in Lamarck 1804:753) Urban (1900:165) subsp. chaetaria ( Roemer & Schultes 1817:154) T. Koyama (1974:68)

Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA.: India , s.d., Koenig, s.n.,( C, C10010395 ,digital image!)( Fig.5 ); isolectotypes: ( C, C10010396 , digital image!).

The name C. setaceus was proposed by Retzius based on Koenig’s collection from Calcutta. Though Koenig’s collections, referred to by Retzius were present in Lund Herbarium, we could not trace this taxon, which demonstrates any proof of belonging to Koenig. But we could trace two potential specimens (C10010395 & C10010396) from Copenhagen Herbarium, and both the sheets contain inscriptions of Koenig’s name. But, the sheet C10010396 contains many annotations and in order to avoid confusion, the sheet C10010395 is designated here as lectotype and the sheet C10010396 as isolectotype.
