Marlierea laevigata (DC.) Kiaersk. (1893: 51) .

Marlierea laevigata var. glazioviana Kiaerskou (1893: 51) . Type:— BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Alto Macaé, Glaziou 19368 (lectotype C!, designated here, isosyntypes BR!, F!, K!, NY!). Remaining syntype:— BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Nova Friburgo , 04 Nov 1881, Glaziou 13450 (syntypes C!, isosyntypes BR!, F!, K!, R!).

Note:—The specific epithet is allusive to the plentifully punctate leaves. The glandular dots in this species are raised and reasonably distinct on the lower surface of the leaves. The collection Glaziou 19368 has more leaves and mature flowers than Glaziou 13450 and was therefore selected as the lectotype of Marlierea laevigata var. glazioviana .
