Distribution:— Bahia to Paraná.
Note:—The specific epithet is derived from the name of the author who published the species in Myrtus , Vellozo. Vellozo (1831: tab. 60) published the illustration of this species after the protologue; for this reason we designate a neotype rather than a lectotype.
