Family Neocomitidae Salfeld, 1921 View in CoL
Te Neocomitidae View in CoL represent a major element of the ammonoid faunas of the lower Hauterivian sedimentary series. An adaptive radiation took place across the Valanginian-Hauterivian boundary, giving rise to the Endemoceratinae Schindewolf, 1966 and Leopoldiinae Tieuloy, 1971 and possibly to other new subfamilies. In Western Europe, the last occurrence of the Neocomitidae View in CoL lies in the lowermost part of the upper Hauterivian record ( S. sayni Zone View in CoL , Cruasiceras cruasense Biohorizon sensu Bulot et al., 1993 ). As already suggested by Bert et al. (2020), the occurrence of the Neocomitidae View in CoL (e.g., Hatchericeras Stanton, 1901 View in CoL ) in the upper Hauterivian and Barremian sedimentary record of the Circum-Pacific should be rejected.
