Habitat. Sand, gravel substrate near seagrass bed, reef flat; intertidal to 3 m.

Distribution. Wide distribution in the Indo-West Pacific. Indonesia: Lesser Sunda Islands, Sulawesi, and Maluku.

Remarks. The specific characters of this species include: short and stout ocular peduncles, moderately dense setae on chelipeds, second and third pereopods; right cheliped with median row of moderately strong spines on dorsal surface of dactylus, flattened fixed finger, covered with tubercles, palm with strong spines medially, and two rows of spines on dorsal surface of the carpus with some capsulate spines on distal margin. The blue or black median band that separated distal blue and proximal white area of the ocular peduncles, and blue antennular peduncles are also characteristic for this species.
