Type material: possibly 2 syntypes (MNHN).
― Valid ( Bretnall 1919; Hoffmann 1928; Labbé 1934a, as Scaphis atra ). Gray (1850: 117) and Adams and Adams (1858: 234) attributed authorship of an Onchidella nigra to Lesson, but Lesson did not name such a species. Onchidella nigra likely was a name used by mistake for Onchidium ater , as suggested by Hoffmann (1928) and Labbé (1934a).
